Passport2Purity Journey

My14 year old teenage boy and I spent the weekend on an adventure to the Passport 2 Purity journey. Have you thought about a "journey" with your preteen-teen to discuss "life"?

I was excited to get started and curious about what my son would think. I sat with him prior to the adventure and informed him briefly about what this would entail.

We looked at the material, which includes a tour guide for the parent, a travel journal that included devotions to read once a day and 8 CDs with scripture songs.

After reviewing the material, my son wasn't 100% convinced however he decided to take the journey. I was thrilled of his acceptance due to this school year he will be a Freshman in High School. We all know and probably experienced some peer pressure in school.

Although both of my boys are great kids and I'm honored to be their mother, once they leave your sight you don't know what's going to happen, all you can do is just pray that what you instilled in your children about God, loyalty, being respectful and honesty that they will take what they've learned and use it appropriately in the outside world.

Passport 2 Purity was a great experience with my son, he was open to the discussions we had and didn't mind answering questions. I would recommend this getaway edition to any family with teenage or preteen children.

"Everything You Ever Wanted" by Jillian Lauren Book Review & Giveaway

unnamed     I had the opportunity to read “Everything You Ever Wanted” by Jillian Lauren and was asked to write a review. After reading just the first few pages, I was devoted to this book. Jillian Lauren pens her journey from rehab to recovery. Sketching each line finely, we grasp on word by word as she triumphs through. “Everything You Ever Wanted” begins with Jillian’s dark past, she wrestles with her drug addiction; however she continues to plant one foot in front of the other – step by step getting rid of baggage all to find happiness. Jillian’s strong determined soul anchors her to get a handle on something in order to have everything. We meet up with Jillian on the road to recovery, finding her way to Cosmetology school and into the arms of her rock musician and life partner Scott.             Riding the roller-coaster of love, Jillian and Scott’s emotions morphed into reality when they realize the struggles and life style that comes with infertility. After embracing her infertility, coasting through each mountain of heartache with numerous fertility treatments, Jillian entertains adoption. Scott concurs. Jillian and Scott encounters parenting when adopting Tariku, their handsome Ethiopian baby boy. While Tariku fulfills Jillian’s hopes and dreams of becoming a mother, seems as if the forces of habit settles in….a new mountain to climb. Tariku has challenging obstacles. He learns differently, but that did not halt Jillian’s love for being a mother and the love she has for Tariku.   unnamed (1) This perfectly painted memoir is the next book for your book club and a must have for your bookshelf. I enjoyed this read from the first chapter. Jillian’s brave heart, her love for life and motherhood carried her through the storm page by page. Any mother who has experienced difficulties in life and have read this memoir will appreciate a second shot when given the opportunity.   unnamed (2)

Summer Kitchen Decor

Now that the warm weather is trying to creep in, it's time for some summer decor. So why not bring the summer in? That was my question. Hmmm...

I wanted some bright but calming accent colors in my kitchen since that's where I spend a lot of my time.

This is my plain kitchen counter...some yellow...maybe even turquoise or even some coral accent colors to bring the warm season of summer inside would create a feeling of calmness.

What are your color schemes for the summer? What colors do you suggest? I enjoy decorating my home every season. I think of my home as a place for happiness, peace, love, positive energy and for family. Home is where the heart is.

"A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden."

Connecting With Your Higher Power

When did you first connect with your higher power? How did you connect? What was your reaction? I've heard people say they've connected at their lowest point in their lives when troubles at home, work and social life occurred. They had no where else to turn but to Him. After leaving their problems to Him, they described the feeling of weight being lifted off their shoulder. A feeling of lightness and pureness within....the connection of their soul to HIS.
